What is Connect the Classroom?
Connect the Classroom is a government-funded initiative designed to support better learning by upgrading schools’ digital infrastructure. It helps schools improve internet speeds and coverage by funding new Wi-Fi access points and network switches.
As more mobile digital devices as are used in the classroom, a growing number of schools are finding their existing networks can’t keep up. The Connect the Classroom programme aims to fix that, giving educational institutions secure, centrally managed wireless networks that meet the latest standards set by the Wi-Fi Alliance.
With £25 million having recently been allocated for the 2025/26 financial year, eligible schools across the UK have a vital opportunity to upgrade their digital foundations and create enhanced experiences for pupils and teachers.

Eligibility Criteria
Schools currently receiving targeted intervention through the Regional Improvement for Standards and Excellence (RISE) programme are eligible for a Connect the Classroom grant.
The DfE (or relevant responsible body) will directly contact these schools to notify them of funding opportunities if they fall below the specified Wi-Fi connectivity standards.
These standards include full wireless coverage across all areas (both indoors and outdoors) and the implementation of security features to prevent unauthorised access.
Eligibility Criteria
